This Week's Quotation:
Our heart knows what our mind has forgotten—it knows the sacred that is within all that exists, and through a depth of feeling we can once again experience this connection, this belonging… Nothing is excluded and the unique nature of every aspect of creation is celebrated. This is how oneness works when it is not just a concept but a living presence.
~ Llewellyn Vaughan-Lee, Sufi Mystic
The Joy of Synergy
The basic meaning of synergy is that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. I suspect all of us have experienced the joy of synergy—the glory and fulfillment experienced when there is a harmonious uniting for a shared purpose.
I imagine we are the product of a synergistic effect God put into motion as our world was created. Take the human body, for example—we have two hands, two eyes, two feet, and trillions of cells that work together to support our wellbeing. We have our humanity and our spirituality that join together in navigating life.
I see God smile each time there is a cooperative coming together of diverse components to create something grander than any individual part could create alone. Think of the family of instruments that come together to create magnificent music! The relationship of supportive reciprocity in synergy ensures the nourishment of both the individual parts and the whole. Such a treasure!
Differences drive synergy, so diversity is of great value. It's no longer your way or my way but our way. Synergy holds the possibility for creative cooperation in finding new solutions to long-standing problems. When people come together genuinely invested in a common goal, and they're open to each other's input, they begin to gain expanded insights. Genius is increased exponentially because of differences when those differences are celebrated and understood as the gift they are.
Synergy invites us to jump on the joy train. As an individual, we cultivate ways to increase the synergy between body, mind, and emotion. In creating synergistic relationships with other people, we might unite under the umbrella of what we value and hold sacred, such as cultivating Divine qualities, loving goodwill, and positively impacting the world. Synergy incorporates, honors, and transcends the personal. Nothing is lost, and so much is gained! How does it get better than that?
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
I’m jumping on the joy train! Thank you, Terri, for taking us into synergy with you.
Yes, Terri, thank you for your insight. As we unite under the same umbrella we create a togetherness of understanding, shielding the downpour of whatever comes. This is the joy of sharing synergy! We are in this with each other to create divinity.
I love the notion implied here that the human body, unless it is imbalanced/diseased, is great example of synergy already at work. All of the inner systems and energies exhibit a precise coordination by which that which is greater than the sum of the parts is LIFE ITSELF – a fluid organism with its own power and radiant field — due to a design promoting synergy. THANK YOU, GOD!
Yes, not sure how the tremendous value of both diversity and synergy seem to have be lost (not by all for sure – but seemingly by too many). It is beautiful that we get to Hold together the great value of each of us when hearts and minds are open.
Thanks, Terri
Beautiful gift to receive and participate in the natural joy of synergy shared, a resounding Yes
