This Week's Quotation:
At any moment, you have a choice that either leads you closer to your spirit or further away from it.
~ Thich Nhat Hanh
Soul Choices

Terri McCartney, Soul Care Facilitator
I have come to understand that our power to choose is one of our superpowers. As Thich Nhat Hanh wisely observed, our choices either lead us to a life-enhancing, fuller expression of our divinity or further away from it.
I recognize Love as the vibrational blueprint and foundation of all being. Heaven is the vibrational reality I choose to create for myself and others as best I can in all circumstances. Like most of us, I’ve had many trials, tribulations, and heartaches throughout my life that have tested my skills, commitment, and ability to walk my talk.
That is why it has completely confounded me how discombobulated and inept I’ve felt these past few months while managing things following my mother’s death. Nearly every day ends with me on my knees in a puddle of tears and sorrow, praying for a lifeline. No matter how much I wished to love and support my siblings without judgment or blame, to inspire courage and confidence, wash away their shame, free them of their victimhood or anger, and support them in breaking down their walls, I could not. It broke my heart to witness all the ways fear and forgetting had subtly insinuated themselves into nearly every facet of their lives.
As it’s said, we must grow where we are planted, even when we are immersed in concrete (like the daisy in the image for this blog). We can find ways to thrive and share our beauty, even if it seems to have no effect. It reminded me that sometimes all we can do is surround what is before us with loving intent and trust.
I share this with you because we all need to honor ourselves for showing up during testing times. Please honor yourself today for all of your own soul accomplishments that have created shifts in your state of being that may not be at all evident on the outside. Honor yourself for all the patterns, judgments, fear, and heartbreak you have forgiven, re-known, and released in love. Honor yourself for all the ways you’ve grown and transformed. Write down and keep track of your soul’s triumphs so they comfort you when you are feeling tempted to give up.
The gravity of the world can be overwhelming. How fortunate we are to choose love in all its life-enhancing forms and expressions to support us on this journey. We are living in a fantastically mysterious and miraculous universe, on a planet that is racing around the sun at 67 thousand miles per hour! Wow. And we don’t even feel this motion. How could we ever doubt that we are loved and that miracles abound?
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
