This Week's Quotation:
Being a candle is not easy; in order to give light, one must first burn.
~ Rumi
Rise and Radiate
I’ve dedicated my adult life to discerning between the me that Existence created and the me that human conditioning created. I suspect many of you have too. As Rumi reminds us, there’s an enormous number of beliefs and habits to burn away before one is able to glow as the radiant sun we are each created to be.
As our consciousness expands, we recognize that the choices we make are soul-shaping decisions—do we stand in judgment or compassion, anger or forgiveness, love or fear? We define ourselves as we respond to the puzzling challenges life puts before us.
To journey through the dense minefield of fear and separation requires courage and abiding faith in the light of Truth to burn away any illusion of separation still residing in our minds and to trust it will be replaced with Love’s unifying thoughts. And strengthen us as radiating ambassadors of love.
As the end of 2022 approaches, may we be imbued with the loving Spirit that lives within and connects us all. A magnifying force of love is a force of connection. Even the tiniest acts of connection are grace to all involved. May we be full participants in this beautiful dance with creation—weaving gratitude, grace, and goodwill into the tapestry of everything we engage.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
Rumi was a Sufi mystic, but what a great Christmas message! Thank you, Terri!
Thank you Terri,
As you have said, every small act of kindness matters. Love has no degree of importance. Love is love. Do the tiny birds need seeds on the snow covered ground? Does the neighbour need help to clear their walkway? Does a person need a kind word to feel they are not alone? Reaching out with love and kindness is the greatest gift we can give and is the greatest gift Divine source has given us to provide for life in all of its forms. ‘Pay it forward’ and fill this world with love.
Thank you so much, Terri, I loved your concluding comment “May we be full participants in this beautiful dance with creation—weaving gratitude, grace, and goodwill into the tapestry of everything we engage.” Indeed. And it is great to RUMI-nate in the fire. So true. Let’s burn. And to all a very Happy Hanukkah and Merry Christmas. Love, Tom
