This Week's Quotation:
"Work is Love made visible."
~ Khalil Gibran
Making Love Visible

Jerry Kvasnicka, Making Love Visible
What a simple and obvious way to bring Love into our lives! Is there anyone reading this who doesn’t work in some way during each day, even if you have officially retired? I retired from my job as a school custodian with the local school district twenty-three years ago, but in my early 80s I am still working at least forty hours a week for the Sunrise Ranch spiritual community as postmaster and custodian for our administration building.
Work, no matter how simple and menial it is, is a way of achieving something, building something. It initiates and sustains a creative flow life energy coming from the core of our Being, which is Love. Our bodies love to respond to physical work and our minds to mental work. And almost all work blesses others in some way and is a gift to the world.
I recently saw a 100-year-old man on television at a gathering celebrating his birthday. He was asked what he considered to be the secret of his longevity, and he replied with just two words: “Keep moving.” How true! Good, old-fashioned physical exercise is so vital to health.
Yes, science and technology have given us so many labor-saving devices. But this can be carried too far. If we end up with nothing to do, surely this would reduce the flow of Love through us! Why would I ever want to save labor? All labor can be a “labor of Love.”
So do I wake up on a Monday morning moaning and groaning about the week of work ahead of me? Monday is my favorite day of the week, for I know that there is a whole week ahead full of work’s wonderful opportunities to make Love visible, to be in the flow of that current and let Love penetrate and transform my world.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
Hi Jerry, you have done it again… captured my thoughts, feelings and heart with your beautiful message and expression through writing, of love in action! Thank you, and wishing you well! P.S. The admin building was always in great shape, with the plants looking beautiful, the recycling routinely collected, and the mail meticulously cared for! Now if that’s not LOVE, I don’t know what is… 😉
Thank you, Robby, so good to connect with you. Thanks for all the help you gave me by taking dead batteries and spent cartridges to Loveland for years. It’s been challenging to find a replacement that matches your consistency.
Jerry – you are such a precious Being – your caring – your work ethic – your sense of humor and your Enfoldment of all that matters – those are the things I love most about your friendship and your life, love, Katie-Grace
These are the same qualities I admire in you, Katie. You are a very precious being!
Beautiful message, Jerry, and what a great reminder of the essence of love we can and do pour into every day. Hands working with love carry a meaning far deeper than the actual work they do. Thank you!
Thank you, Berry, and I understand you may be staying in the house above my basement apartment for a while. Great to be with you!
I whole-heartedly agree, Jerry! Beautiful words. Love made visible through what is called ‘work’ is our very purpose of living an abundant, fulfilling life.
And it is so good, Linda, to have you as my work companion here in the Administration Building, with your office next to mine.
Totally agree, Jerry. After a time of ‘semi retirement’ as a result of a broken ankle, and having done as much as is sensible around my home, next Monday morning I look forward to a second part time job in my special area of accounting with a firm who is so happy to have me working for them with my skill set. There is nothing like feeling useful when you are good at something someone desparately needs
Thanks for your response, Margaret. Using your accounting skills in the way you are not only blesses the people you’re working for but generates useful spiritual substance. THANK YOU!
