This Week's Quotation:
Tranquility…is the perfect Peace of the Wonderful One within. In Tranquility is the everlasting attitude toward external events wherein one can truly say, “NONE OF THESE THINGS MOVE ME.” Tranquility is the supreme virtue, for therein is perfect freedom from all external turbulence.
~ Lloyd Arthur Meeker
Tranquility
How does it get any better than having a tranquil mind—free of judgment and wants—no matter what happens in the external world? It’s of the greatest value for every precious moment it is sustained. There is Tranquility when the mind is attuned to the mind of God, the heart singing with the heart of God, and all the earth is in chorus.
When there are discordant tones in the music of my life, I recognize the message I’m receiving—go within and fine-tune my instrument. The process that has worked well for me to restore harmony to dissonant tones is to breathe for 15 minutes while saying with every inhalation, I choose love.
Even when standing in heaven, the distractions of our world can be enormous and knock us off-center. As can the monkey mind that has learned how to speak the language of love but is running perceptions through the polarized filter system of conditionality. Old tones of history became distorted by experiences that aligned with the reality of separation. The result has been rejection, denial, and judgment of facets of being deemed ugly and unworthy.
Any aspect of our existence that has been denied or made taboo is now coming forth to be loved and accepted without conditions. We are all in this world to expand beyond the sense of self we’ve been taught—to know that even those facets of greatest division and fragmentation are part of the Loving Oneness.
In our willingness to grow beyond habits, patterns, defenses, and superstitions and choose love over and over again, we develop what Lloyd Arthur Meeker describes as perfect freedom from all external turbulence. We experience the truth that one can create heaven simply by choosing love.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
“Perfect freedom beyond all external turbulence” … who wouldn’t want that?
Thank you, Terri, and than you Lloyd Arthur Meeker. Like you, I choose LOVE. Aloha, Tom C.
I particularly have the opportunity to practice tranquility as I listen to the world news each day. None of what I hear moves me to react. Everything I hear moves me to bless with love. And so my passion for world service is energetically exercised via radiant listening!
