This Week’s Quotation:
The Lord showed me, so that I did see clearly, that he did not dwell in these temples which men had commanded and set up, but in people's hearts… His people were his temple, and he dwelt in them.
~ George Fox
The Lord Dwells in People’s Hearts
George Fox is widely recognized as the founder of the Quaker movement and this quote conveys his incorrigible passion for evoking practical spirituality in people.
In July 2024, the 400th anniversary of his birth was joyfully celebrated by Quakers around the world. Fox spoke the true language of the heart.
In my view and increasing experience, practical spirituality includes aspects such as doing the laundry with Love and embracing everything we engage with a heart that is bathed in alignment with Life.
The reality for me is that I am a living temple that opens the portal. Therefore, wherever I am, the lifeblood of Love can pour into each and every activity from the depths of my inner soul.
Turning the heart toward life in this way brings great abundance and joy. It opens the portal of consciousness that is centred in Love, rather than earthly forms, and allows outer expression to be born from the primal original source.
For me there is a rising tide of sacred people, living in their true identity and taking responsibility for their lives, including their own hearts, minds, and actions. Is this true of you? To increasingly allow your own unique inherent nature to shine in every aspect of modern-day living.
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world’s sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
THANK YOU, GEORGE AND LAURENCE! Love, Tom
Such an important message Laurence! Thank you for articulating it so well.
Laurence, I love your emphasis on the practical, especially with these words: “Practical spirituality includes aspects such as doing the laundry with Love and embracing everything we engage with a heart that is bathed in alignment with Life.” I do a lot of janitorial work and it is such an avenue for Love’s expression!
For me there is a rising tide of sacred people, living in their true identity and taking responsibility for their lives, including their own hearts, minds, and actions. Is this true of you? To increasingly allow your own unique inherent nature to shine in every aspect of modern-day living.
Yes!!! Thank you for this message – and for the reminder to continue to take responsibility for our own lives as we offer the best of what we have and give always with love and Light and grace.
