This Week's Quotation:
Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
~ Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love
Remembering
We each have the mission to remember our True Self as a uniquely individuated creative expression of our Creator. As a reader of this blog, you are already on the path to untethering from all that dims your beautiful light. You know you are powerful beyond measure because you are the Divine, manifested in form.
Yet, as I have, you may have discovered that clearing the more subtle and deeply unconscious patterns that obscure your light requires much conscious effort and diligence. Additionally, to make our journey here really interesting, we have the quandary that the True Self is an entirely different identity than the self we were taught we were.
Whew. That’s a lot to sort through—many layers of old habits, beliefs, and identities to peel away. We are learning to bless what we are tempted to disown and damn. We have the challenge of dancing delicately with the personal and collective shadows born from control-based mandates and fear-based doctrines embedded in our social systems that seek to be functioning in the light.
It doesn’t matter who, what, how, or when concerning this stuff. Avoid getting snagged in the victim or blame game. We embrace it all because all that is, is of the One Source. The greatest chaos, division, and fragmentation are embraced in the Oneness. God sees God in all its creations and is expressing through you.
Let us all claim our personal miracle—remembering who we are as a creator, endowed with the power beyond measure to recover what has been in darkness throughout humanity’s history. It’s not about fixing things. It’s about reclaiming things as they are.
How wonderful that we are spiritual compatriots on this journey of transformation. We remind each other to keep choosing love over and over and over again, whatever trials and tribulations arrive at our doorstep. We remember we are emissaries bringing the light where it has been denied.
We could offer a million reasons to choose love, but there really is only one—there is no other true choice. The Light of the True Self transforms darkness—transmuting what has not been loved, returning it to its essence. Each time we choose love, we transform a piece of forgetting into the holy flame of remembering.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
Thank you, Terri, and Marianne. Two powerful women! Yes, let us transmute and BRING/BE/SHINE the light! Thank you for your powerful statement. Love, Tom
I think you, Terri, and Marianne have identified the fundamental malaise that humanity suffers from: forgetting, or as one person called it: “collective amnesia.” Our spiritual work, therefore, is simply remembering, remembering that I am sourced in the Truth of Love and bringing that in my consciousness and through my expression into my creative field.
Beautifully expressed as always Terri. Yes… We are here for Love. I have even managed to train my earworm to sing those words internally to the tune of Amazing Grace. Sometimes I wake up to my earworm singing it already! Or another version – same tune – with the words O breathe my love, O breathe my love …. It works a treat!
