This Week's Quotation:
"Resist not evil."
~ (Matthew 5: 39)
No Resistance

Jerry Kvasnicka, Wired for Love
What a simple prescription given by Jesus, but I suppose applying it has been a challenge, maybe even a stumbling block, for many. The natural, conditioned impulse is to resist what we perceive as evil. But defining “evil” requires that we make a judgment and one person’s conception of evil may be different from another person’s or even evil as defined by society at large.
I think what Jesus is actually emphasizing here is that resistance of any kind is contrary to the creative process of life. If we don’t resist evil, surely we won’t be resisting anything else, especially the creative power of Love that wants to move through us into expression. So isn’t he actually saying, “Don’t resist anything”?
He realized that anything we resist actually receives our energy and our power. In the late 1960s I was involved in the Vietnam war protest movement, not realizing that my resistance was actually prolonging the war. The recent NO KINGS rallies in the United States may actually serve to fortify and harden the current administration. It might be far more productive to hold an ALL KINGS event in celebration of our innate Kingship authored by Love!
The Ordering Power of Love does not resist anything. Human beings can distort and divert this Love and create forms of resistance, but the true nature of Love is resistance-free. Love never resists or fights anything, and the Power of Love will eventually remove whatever attempts to resist it, including the dysfunctional world that humanity has created. Love is irresistible!
Resistance has embedded itself into the very DNA of humanity. I still feel it and occasionally yield to it. But in our spiritual evolution may we consistently train our capacities of body, mind and heart to be totally open to the full and free flow of Love that is our true nature. And maintaining this resistance-free flow through us conveys it into the creative field of humanity that we individually and collectively center, bringing it back into coherence with the Ordering Power of Love.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
