This Week's Quotation:
The blue planet earth is alive. The mystic earth is awakening.
The mountains and the streams and the seas are full of life.
They dance with pounding hearts and within them the mind of the Creator is alive.
All are active and full of joy and the sun is shining.
And the land is at peace.~ Masami Saionji, Chairperson, Three World Peace Organizations
A Glorious Vision
All that I live for and have dedicated my life to can be summed up in Masami’s words. To use a Biblical reference, I am here to do what I can in my life to allow something approximating the Garden of Eden to be restored on Earth. True, the mountains, streams, and seas still teem with life, but due to human depredation, Nature is still just a shadow of its former self.
Insofar as our material existence on this planet is concerned, we are all intimately connected to Nature. It is the very fabric of our physical form with its capacity of consciousness. This is why I have capitalized it. When Nature is hurt in any part of the world, there is a part of you and me that is hurt. On the other hand, when I do something in my immediate world to bless Nature, this blessing is felt in Nature everywhere.
Does humanity think it can somehow exist without a balanced and flourishing natural world? Nature is absolutely essential to human survival. So how do we preserve it? Can we save Nature with the Internet? Can science save Nature? How about the US Congress or conferences on climate change? I don’t think so.
It is ultimately a spiritual issue involving, guess who? Right, you and me! And every other human being on earth. So shall we not embrace any opportunity that arises for us in the course of a day to bless Nature?
Some people in the Sunrise Ranch community where I live find it amusing to see me walking around the property, touching trees and bushes. Yet isn’t it true that when we simply touch a tree leaf, a blessing is conveyed not just to that tree but to trees everywhere? And to the whole natural world, including the body of humanity. And the land is at peace.
About Open Windows
We, the authors of this blog, dedicate it to the transparent exploration of the world's sacred scripture and enlightened spiritual thought. We believe that the original inspiration of all faiths comes from a common source, named and revered in a myriad of ways. With that understanding, the innumerable symbols, beliefs, and practices of faith cease to divide. They become open windows to a common reality that inspires and unifies us. We find deeper insight and nourishment in our own faith and from the expression of faith from others.
We hope these weekly quotations and meditations speak to your heart and soul.
Go Jerry! And go Masami! A tree hugger is not a sightgag but rather a wonderful expression of love. When we touch a leaf with affection, that leaf is henceforth for the healing of the nations. Love, Tom
This is so beautiful, Jerry. Thank you! Put two identical house plants side by side. Curse one and send love to the other…see what happens. I touch trees and flowers all the time. I believe everything in the world is alive. We swim in the same ‘sea’ of energy. I feel the tree and the tree feels me. ❤️
Jerry – your love for Nature is a beautiful thing and Dr. Imoto’s study of plant responses reminds us that all of Nature is Alive in the most beautiful way – and it is communicating with us all the time – I think that is why we feel so blessed when we pay attention to the fact that Nature is not only in our Surround, but we are in Its Surround in every possible way. Blessings
I was fortunate to see Dr. Emoto in person when he was in Vancouver. He launched a powerful realization of our consciousness and its effect on our world.
