This Week's Quotation:
Humankind is but one thread within the great web of life. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.~ Chief Seattle of the Suquamish and Duwamish Tribes
Did you know that bees have been dying out at an alarming rate in North America and Europe over the past ten years? Bees are an essential link in the food chain because they are the source of honey, and they are also the primary pollinators of grown crops. Additionally, coral reefs, which are essential because of their role in providing nourishment and shelter to a large percentage of marine life, are dying out at an unprecedented rate.
These are examples of how interconnected all of life is. We can no longer be hard-hearted about how we treat each other or any facet of life on this planet. Those who dwell on this planet are part of one great living organism, the Earth itself. Just as every organ of the human body has an essential function that is interconnected to the entire body's health, all the various Earth inhabitants have their crucial roles in the planet's life. It's all interconnected. We're all in this together.
We do not walk apart from each other, and none of us walks apart from God, our Creator. Infinity is our true identity. This can be hard to remember in the chaotic circumstances we've been experiencing this year. We are in this fast-flowing river of life, and because of our connectivity, we each affect this river in one way or another. No matter what we or others may have done—no matter the rights or wrongs we may have recorded about ourselves or others—it is now time to remember the truth: We are all connected. We must learn a kind of tolerance and goodwill that recognizes this interdependence. This awareness opens us to experience the beauty and benefits of our interconnectivity.
Here are some of the questions I like to ask myself, so I stay awake and tapped into the Divine current. How might my day unfold if I remember to open my eyes each new day with a wholehearted yes to life? Am I viewing the circumstances before me from the perspective of heaven? Am I free of judgment and expectation in this situation? Am I assuming the best of every person and situation and responding with compassion, patience, and goodwill? Am I holding on to the illusion of separation in this relationship or circumstance?
Beautifully written, Terri. Yes, all of life is interconnected, and that certainly includes us! The world is simply a reflection of what is present in human consciousness. So let us do the work there, letting our consciousness be saturated with the truth of love.
Beautifully stated, Jerry: “letting our consciousness be saturated with the truth of love.” Thank you!
This is invaluable to remember in “chaotic circumstances”, because it is the key to letting some direction and gentleness emerge in the midst. Because I am part of the interconectedness, there is always something to bring to it!
Absolutely, Barb. Thank you!
I love to read your article for this issue. Also, I feel so depressed when I watch what the world really doesn’t go based on interdependence. Thank you for your provoked idea.
Thank you for commenting, Michael. We are all evolving and some of us are still deeply asleep but those of us who have an awakened consciousness to the true nature of our being can have compassion and forgive those who are still deeply snagged in the human conditioning of separation.
