What is Sunrise Ranch?

Sunrise Ranch is a conference and retreat center in Loveland, Colorado, hosted by an intentional spiritual community of about 80 people. Founded in 1945, it is the oldest intentional spiritual community in the United States.

Sunrise Ranch is a working ranch on 360 acres on the front range of northern Colorado. The Ranch raises grass-fed cattle, lamb and chickens, and it stewards abundant natural gardens and greenhouses. It offers a real farm-to-table cuisine in which much of the food is sourced from the Ranch itself, as well as from neighboring farms and local sources. No chemical pesticides or fertilizers have been used at Sunrise Ranch since its inception.

The easiest way to find out more about Sunrise Ranch is to go to the Sunrise Ranch About page. If you have a specific question—or if you’d like to ask about visiting—please feel free to contact us directly at 970-679-4200, or email the Ranch at guestservices@sunriseranch.org

Where is Sunrise Ranch?

Sunrise Ranch is located 34 miles north of Boulder in Loveland, Colorado, USA. The Ranch is west of the center of Loveland off U.S. Route 34 before it enters Big Thompson Canyon on the way to Estes Park.

Sunrise Ranch lies within Eden Valley, just over the first set of foothills before the Rocky Mountains. It is in an ecotone—the intersection of the biomes of the Great Plains to the east and the Rocky Mountains to the west. Because of this, it is full of many species of wildlife, including elk, deer, turkey, eagles and lazuli buntings.

What is the relationship between Sunrise Ranch and Emissaries of Divine Light?

Sunrise Ranch was founded by the 501(3)c non-profit organization Emissaries of Divine Light in 1945. It is owned and operated by the Emissaries today. Sunrise Ranch is the hub of a network of people who are connected with Emissaries of Divine Light around the world.

Emissaries of Divine Light believe that the essential nature of every human being is divine, that we are all born to live a happy and fulfilling life through the expression of the unique spiritual gifts within us. We believe that all unhappiness and failure stems from a failure to express our unique gifts. And all happiness and fulfillment flows when individuals give what is theirs to give in life.

We believe that at the core of every issue humanity faces today—from the personal to the global— is a spiritual issue that we have the ability to address and answer as human beings. We believe that the most central spiritual issue we face is whether we will express on the outside who we already are on the inside—a sun, a being who has great love and light to give.

Emissaries of Divine Light welcome people from any spiritual path who acknowledge the sacredness of all life and who honor the Divine within all people and all Creation.

What are the spiritual beliefs and practices of the community at Sunrise Ranch?

The core belief at Sunrise Ranch is that the reality of the Divine lives within all people. To be known by the individual, it must be expressed and embodied in a human life. True knowing of the Divine in this way creates personal happiness and well-being, and it leads to a fulfilling life experience for the individual.

Sunrise Ranch is founded on the belief that the world has entered a crucial time in its unfolding history. We believe that, more than ever, the world needs teaching and demonstration sites that offer an enlightened vision of the future. It needs places and groups of people who show a creative path forward into what is next for humanity. Sunrise Ranch is a place where this happens.

The essential spiritual practice of Sunrise Ranch is the Art of Living—the discipline of conscious, creative expression at all levels of the human experience. We use many practices to deepen and strengthen this experience. These include a Sunday morning service, conscious dialogue, Attunement, Healing Chant and meditation.
