Questions? Ask Carmen (yogabaehr@comcast.net) or Dennis (yogafun@dennistenney.com)
As a young girl growing up in Germany, Carmen put on a pair of ballet shoes and never stopped moving. Learning martial arts and meditation in her teens has inspired Carmen to a life-long study of mindfulness within movement, and so, movement within mindfulness. In the next three decades, Carmen would earn an M.A. from Naropa University in Contemplative Psychotherapy, become a Licensed Professional Counselor, earn a Black Belt in NIA [Neuromuscular Integrative Action] and work as a Certified Instructor in the Anusara Yoga tradition.
Carmen’s students admire how she bridges yoga know-how with an innate wisdom. Even more importantly, the loyalty and friendships fostered among her students are at the heart of Carmen’s practice: the forming of community. Her gift in connecting with all kinds of people, and they, in turn, with each another, is what makes Carmen’s yoga classes and intensives, magic.
A childhood back injury inspired Dennis to seek freedom from pain and peace through movement. Thirty years working with technology in academia and industry continually challenged him to love his body and himself. In 2002 an injury led him to his first Anusara teacher, Carmen, and the philosophical ground where pain and failure can be skilfully used as gateways to joyous transformation.
An Anusara-Inspired yoga teacher , teaching since 2004, Dennis enjoys helping each student align attitude and body. Alignment invites freedom from pain and offers a path to deeper freedom; joyous liberation. Helping others walk their path to freedom gives Dennis great joy.
