Hollow Bones / Mondo Zen Facilitator Training Retreat

The Mondo Zen Facilitator Retreat is designed for students who want to begin or deepen their experience as a Mondo Zen Facilitator. We are delighted to return to The Sunrise Ranch Retreat Center for this event.

Hollow Bones Zen, now called Mondo Zen, is a modern adaptation of traditional Japanese Rinzai Zen. All practices during this 7-day retreat are done in English in order to facilitate direct, personal understanding of the methods and goals. The retreat is based in traditional Zazen (sitting meditation) but also includes daily embodiment practice of Yoga or Internal Martial Arts. All Mondo Zen retreats include Koan study.

This retreat is a Facilitator Training retreat, so much time will be spent every day working to re-establish our philosophical understanding via the Mondo Zen Dialog practice. Jun Po Roshi will demonstrate, and then we will break up into smaller groups to practice. If you cannot articulate the teaching and guide others in this process, you do not realize and understand “this.”

In this school of Zen, it is essential that you awaken, and there is a fierce, yet compassionate, insistence that you do so now. Meditating and sitting quietly is not enough! You must realize your inherent freedom. You must answer the question, “Who are you?” from the purest depths of realization, moving far beyond the normal modes of speculative thought. The Hollow Bones retreats offer men and women the opportunity to experience the “answer” to this question in a way that transcends all hope, fear, and doubt.

The cost is $700 per person. There will be an opportunity at the end of the retreat to make a financial contribution to Hollow Bones.
Anyone is welcome to attend this retreat. No experience is necessary.
