Sunrise News July 2012
Summer is upon us! The month of June has brought a number of wildfires to Colorado. The High Park Fire was visible from Sunrise and is now fully contained. Other fires in the state continue to burn. For a number of years the pine beetle infestation in the western part of the United States has been a concern to the National Forest Service, with several million acres of beetle-kill trees and dry conditions. We offer our support and enfoldment to all who are affected by this situation. We opened the doors of Sunrise Ranch to house Red Cross volunteers who have come from around the country to assist. We housed over fifty Red Cross guests and are thankful we could offer our support in this way. How wonderful to see the larger Colorado community come together to provide food, shelter and finances during this time—for people and animals!
Sunrise also provided accommodation for a yoga group that was evacuated from another retreat center in the mountains because of the High Park Fire. It was a delight to have them with us for a few weeks.

We welcomed many guests this past month, including those attending workshops and enjoying personal retreats.

The Opening Class shared an evening of creativity with Bob Ewing
New cooling systems have been installed in Green Ridge Room and Mountain View. We were also thrilled to complete the new domestic hot-water heating system in the Pavilion—the community spent a week enjoying meals outside by the pool while this work was being done! Thanks to Chef Joel and his team for accommodating this change in schedule!

A Camp Sunrise benefit, farm tour and the “Very Vivacious Variety Show” (with a silent auction) was a highlight in early June. The variety show included the revelation of hidden talent in the community, and we enjoyed a professional juggler from Boulder!

Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estes offered an exciting workshop to 125, entitled “The Mysterium: Psychology…in the Truest Sense of the Word.” We also hosted a Healers’ Jamboree, the Columbine Unity Men’s Retreat, The Opening (an Emissary one-week class), and Alan Cohen’s Metaphysics and Miracles.
Here’s what one retreat guest had to say:
I wanted to thank you and your staff for the beautiful experience I had at Sunrise Ranch for the workshop last week. Your facility is beautiful and your staff is helpful, shiny and loving. The meals were delicious, and I could taste the care with which the food was grown, harvested, prepared and served…. Have a blessed year—and I hope to be back soon.

Healers’ Jamboree ~ Sharing Circle – July 22, 2012 4 – 7PM
Are You a Holistic Provider or Do You Have a Desire to Learn More About the Healing Arts?
This night is for you! Bring your loving presence, your lightness of heart and your healing modality to share. If you are new to the healing community and feeling your spirit being called in this direction, we invite you to come learn more and enjoy the experience of our circle of sharing during the monthly Healers’ Jam!
This is to create a supportive community by assisting one another:
- By taking care of ourselves and being better able to take care of our clients
- Educating those interested in the healing arts who may not be practitioners, and helping them to connect with practitioners and upcoming workshops
- Creating a network for cross-referring clients
- Creating new friendships
- Having FUN!
We have had many different types of practitioners join us since we began hosting the Healers’ Jams in January, including attunement, body massage, sound therapy, Access Consciousness™/Access Bars, Life Divine, chiropractic, Reiki, scalp massage, shakuhachi flute meditation, Egyptian healing rods, holistic nutrition, dancing and body movement (this was a lot of fun!), life coach, spiritual brain integration/negative program release, dowsing, energy healer, clairvoyant, empowering children, nurses, caretakers, yoga, biofeedback and reflexology.
We are looking to have some fun stations set up for the next couple of months and we are welcoming your ideas…here are a few that are in the works—creativity station for inspiring the artist within, 20-minute presentation sessions, dancing, holistic nutrition, cooking for well-being.
Bring your business cards and upcoming workshop flyers, as this is a great opportunity to network!
This is a free event…to share your experience and talent and a favorite dish for the potluck.
