Workshop Descriptions

CULINARY ARTS – Get creative in the kitchen! Learn fundamental culinary techniques. Add versatility to your culinary skills–create both traditional dishes and wheat/dairy/sugar-free alternatives that taste great! Explore your creativity while learning to artistically present dishes. GARDEN CRAFT – (Hyper-tufa workshop) Create a hyper-tufa pot for your garden. Made of concrete, perlite and either peat moss or sand, these pots are lighter than concrete, weather outdoors just fine and will last a lifetime. (Pebble Mosaics workshop) Both beautiful and durable, pebble mosaics make a wonderful addition to gardens, patios and public spaces. Gain the hands-on experience necessary to create one on your own. Facilitated by Gail Dawson, head landscaper at Sunrise Ranch and Leigh Dawson, operations manager at Sunrise Ranch.

WOODWORKING – Learn how to creatively design and build a wooden stairway using materials natural to the land. Facilitated by Thor Senior, master carpenter and owner of Senior Construction.

PAPER CRAFTING – Craft paper through a casting and hardening process into useful works of art. Take home a clock or mirror you create. Facilitated by paper artist Keith Anderson.

MANDALA MAKING – (Personal Mandala workshop) Using sacred geometry we will look into your astrological birthchart and create a personal mandala with you, a 12″ square glass-shard mosaic glue onto plexiglass that you can hang in your window at home. (Garden Mandala session) We will create a 6-foot diameter garden mandala using natural products, based on the astrological chart of Sunrise Ranch. STONE CRAFTING – Learn to build a 15 foot snaking wall from dry stack sandstone and block. Perfect for sitting and enjoying the sun in your backyard! Facilitated by Soma Hunter, master stonemason and owner of Soma Stone Patios.

Program Fee

$75 (plus $10 materials fee) includes lunch and dinner (with wine) and workshops. A receipt will be issued for the tax-deductible portion of your ticket that will be donated to the Farm at Sunrise Ranch. Stay overnight and treat yourself to a weekend retreat! Enjoy three meals and a sweat lodge on Sunday afternoon. Childcare available.
