Slow Down and Be

Join us at our 350-acre scenic farm and retreat center for a day of workshops and locally-sourced meals that invite you on an inward journey in the company of like-minded friends.

The Slow Down series of events at Sunrise Ranch is connecting individuals and leading-edge organizations in Northern Colorado. This network is grounded in a passion for holistic hands-on learning in the fields of creative expression, holistic food production, and practical spirituality. Sunrise Ranch produces grass-fed beef and seasonal vegetables, and involves local producers and chefs in each event to create extraordinary meals to enrich your experience.

Slow Down and Be is an afternoon of workshops to explore and express “you”—the mind, body, emotions and spirit that make you unique. It is an opportunity to nourish yourself and our planet by enjoying two locally sourced, delicious meals. As winter approaches, follow nature’s example by entering into a quiet, intentional space where questions can be voiced and answers received.

Event fee ($65) includes lunch, dinner and two workshops. Register by October 1st for a $10 discount. Optional overnight guest accommodations, with Sunday sweat lodge and three meals on Sunday. Per person: $118 for a single, $96 for a double, $85 for a triple. Child-care program available Saturday for $35.

Workshops

Storytelling with Soma Hunter: Genuine storytelling is more about listening than speaking. It is about the creation of an atmosphere of positivity and loving concern, which draws forth the truth. To receive this truth is the gift of true listening. It brings perspective and opportunities for transformation. Soma Hunter has developed a sensitivity for passionate listening to peoples stories for over thirty years. Come experience the magic of a storytelling session with him.

Harmonic Temple Singing with Soma Hunter: Harmonic Temple singing is a cappella, four-part sacred songs from a rich source of cultural and spiritual diversity. By singing a song several times together in a circle, the listening ear is a natural and essential part in the achievement of a unified and blended sound. You don’t have to consider yourself a singer to get caught up in the transcendent experience of producing sacred sound with others.

Enneagram Personality Types with Andrea Isaacs: The Enneagram is a personality system that describes nine different patterns of thinking, feeling and behaving, each with different gifts and challenges. Understanding your Enneagram type increases your ability to understand and accept yourself and others, and to manage your reactions when your buttons get pushed. This understanding can literally change your life—not only in your relationship with yourself and others, but in the way you cope with all issues and situations.

Enneamotion with Andrea Isaacs: EnneaMotion is an experiential way to learn about the Enneagram. EnneaMotion helps us access the best qualities of all personality styles which makes it easier to deal with challenging people, improves relationships, makes it easier to access wholeness, balance and joy, and guides our return to our essential or true nature.

Andrea is the founding co-editor and publisher of the Enneagram Monthly (the premier publication in its field), and for the last 25 years she has explored the connection between the body, personality and emotions through choreography, the Enneagram, yoga, meditation, t’ai chi, qigong, Focusing, Process-Oriented Psychology and Dance Therapy. Her workshops are based on the Enneagram and the Jungian functions, and she has been a popular presenter at Enneagram, CAPT and APT (Myers-Briggs) conferences. She teaches her workshops internationally and with the Riso-Hudson Professional Training Program in the United States and is available for private sessions. Check out her website

Imaginative Journaling Workshop with David Karchere: The practice of Imaginative Journaling frees the world of inner experience, and brings new clarity, heart and power into a person’s life. The participants will explore several Imaginative Journaling exercises that they can continue to use long after the session is over.

David Karchere is a writer, poet and songwriter living at Sunrise Ranch. He is the co-creator and facilitator of many workshops, including Journey into the Fire and Life Destiny Immersion. David is also the spiritual director of Sunrise Ranch and the international spiritual network Emissaries of Divine Light.

An Introduction to Bohmian Dialogue with Ben Levi: Join Ben Levi and friends for a gentle introduction to the practice of Dialogue as proposed by David Bohm, physicist and philosopher. One of the primary qualities of Bohmian Dialogue is “generative listening,” the ability to truly hear another without thinking about “building my case” when someone is speaking from a different point of view. We will practice this and other qualities of Dialogue by building a heartfelt container to discover together what has not been known before. Come as a learner, and you may go away transformed.

Ben Levi has been a Bohmian Dialogue practitioner for over fifteen years. He believes that Dialogue is one of the most effective practices for cultivating group awareness, resolving differences, and discovering new ideas. To Ben, living a dialogical life invites constant inquiry, suspending of long-held beliefs, deep listening, and the ability to hold paradoxes…all very useful practices for the 21st century. Ben lives in Boulder, Colorado and is a technology consultant and practitioner of conscious evolution.

Yoga, Breath and Presence with Jennifer Hubbard: Connecting deeply with yourself can be approached mentally, physically, spiritually, and creatively. How do we make the switch from our busy lives into quiet contemplation? The tools of yoga can teach you simple actions that lead you deeper into yourself. This class will cater to all levels, offering each individual a chance to be more fully present, relaxed and joyful. We will be moving throughout the class; please wear comfortable stretch clothing.

Jennifer is the daughter of a yoga teacher and has been practicing since the 1970’s. She began teaching in 2002 and has studied extensively with teachers around the world. Her style is what works for her own body and she encourages her students to find their own best rhythms, set by their own breath. She directed a large studio in Berkeley California, and was the lead yoga teacher and therapist at a retreat in Italy. She is a trained teacher and yoga therapist, with well over 500 hours of training. Her teaching style is clear, fun and inspiring.
